Foreign Architects Olympics - BEHIND THE SCENES

G'DAY USA!

Actually i'm not sure anyone in the USA is reading this. G'day all! So we've been getting some responses indicating that a few of you might have actually enjoyed watching us both act like idiots in the name of competition (yes 'act' *nervous laugh*)... We thought we'd tell you a bit about how the Fishing Challenge went down and what is in store for the next one (later you'll see the clever pun we just made).
The Fishing Challenge pitted man against man for our survival skills, and ultimately, when it came down to it, if both of us were lost in the wilderness we would be in big trouble. Andrew used his first hi-hat stand, shoved an old drum stick in it and dropped a line in on the end of it, neglecting to think of any sort of 'reeling in' or even 'casting off' element. He ended up catching a blowy early on, poor effort!

Matt took an all or nothing approach after his back injury derailed his attempts to win the Timezone Basketball Challenge. (He always beats Andrew in his sleep at those things at usual band outings) - He went and spend a small fortune on a quadcopter, spent every day that week learning to fly the darn thing, and let me tell you I think KMARTS toy department has a lot to answer for, especially their remote control division, how on earth a kid is expected to control those things is beyond me (i'll pause here for the obvious joke). He then attached a fishing line, hook, sinker and bait on, with the idea of it being to drop out in the water further than a rod could reach, and lift the fish out of the water and back to the jetty when they bit. But it was kind of windy day, and the controls stuffed up bit and lets say it hit the drink and the more scientific minded ones of us could probably explain how once a propellor hits the water it doesn't really take off again....
That was AFTER he spent countless hours rigging up a remote control boat with a fishing line, measuring out the optimal distance to put a float behind it to attach the hook line to (there was a big fear of catching a beauty and capsizing the whole thing).... Alas, it didn't play out too well and it within minutes the figure 8 patterns that Matt decided would be "Iirresistable and mesmerising to the fish" saw the line fall behind the propellor, which cut it clean off before tangling and stopping the propellor completely.

In the end, Andrew's blowy won.

Next time we head to IKEA to play HIDE AND SEEK!!!! This one is gonna be freakin awesome, we cannot wait!

In other news, we've finished tracking a new single and are recording it this week with Steve Browne, who has told us to 'prepare to get messy'. We honestly have no idea what is in store for us (now do you see the IKEA pun I made earlier?) but we cannot wait. Steve has worked with artists such as Morgan Bain and Seth Sentry plus many others and we are really looking forward to seeing what he adds to the song. We have a feeling this video is going to be a piece of art in itself :) By the way, please click the sign up button up the top of our website and chuck in your email address. Facebook is getting weird with what it decides to show people so we're going old school with how we get news to everyone :)

Peace!

Matt & Andrew
